Ashwagandha - The Prince of Herbs

Ashwagandha’s myriad benefits have become increasingly sought after in western culture in recent years. With multiple ashwagandha products infusing the health market and more research being conducted on the benefits of the herb, it’s no surprise that this herb has found its way into so many homes around the globe. But what exactly is ashwagandha, and how does it work?

Heralding from the Middle East and parts of Africa and India, ashwagandha is a well-known medicinal herb that has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. The name itself hints at energy and health. As Medical News Today notes, “The name ‘ashwagandha’ describes the smell of its root, meaning ‘like a horse.’ By definition, ‘ashwa’ means horse”. No surprises then that it is used to help with energy.

It’s little wonder why ashwagandha has been crowned "The Prince of Herbs". As an adaptogen, it is incredible at helping the mind and body adapt to any stressful condition, plus it helps to improve stamina and endurance.

A study by Remenapp, Coyle, Orange, et al was conducted to test whether ashwagandha could improve cortisol, mood, stress and anxiety (amongst other things), and it was concluded that “Ashwagandha supplementation may improve the physiological, cognitive, and psychological effects of stress”, giving the herb its rightful place as a must-use product.

Avalife™ Ashwagandha contains KSM 66®, which is a high potency, full spectrum ingredient, extracted from the root of the ashwagandha plant, for stress relief, energy, cognition and immunity.
